Our story

Harlow Consulting was established by Jennifer Brennan and Clare Vokes in 2019. We wanted to create a sustainable business, do interesting work well, and build strong, collaborative working relationships with our team and our clients in the process.

We also wanted to move away from weighty, wordy reports, in favour of engaging outputs and insightful recommendations that genuinely make a difference for our clients. We take complex ideas and datasets, analyse and distil them into meaningful, practical recommendations. Our team work with talented graphic designers to bring our research to life.

We’ve never strayed from our core values. We deliberately set out to create a supportive working environment where everyone’s wellbeing is paramount. What’s important here is curiosity, honesty, integrity, commitment to quality, collaboration, mutual respect and a culture of reflection, learning and development.

Giving back is part of our strategy – we support local and national charities, and we take time out to mentor students and early career researchers.

Our business has come a long way since our inception – and we’re still growing and evolving. Clients trust us and value the high-quality work we produce. Have a look at our case studies to see some examples.

How we work

Bespoke design

One size definitely does not fit all! We create bespoke solutions that are best suited to each individual client, and can adapt the approach as needed, if requirements evolve during the project.

Collaboration

Collaboration with our clients is of utmost importance to us. We build strong partnerships through regular communication and by delivering high-quality outputs on time and on budget.

Quality

We have comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) policies and processes in place. Our in-house resource allocation tool ensures we deliver to time and on budget, without compromising our high-quality standards.

Adaptability

We understand that, even with the best laid plans, our clients’ needs are subject to change. Where challenges arise, we collaborate with clients to problem solve and deliver what they need, when they need it.

Improvement

We are committed to continuous improvement. We ring-fence time for review and reflection during and after every project, drawing on client feedback to identify where we can do things better.

Training

We provide individual training and development plans linked to career pathways, supplemented by an annual training budget and informal knowledge sharing sessions.

Wellbeing

We offer each member of the team a quarterly wellbeing allowance and regular Wellbeing Days for our employees. We are also a Disability Confident, Mindful Employer.

Social Value

We regularly give back to the local community, for example sponsorship of charitable activities and donations to combat food poverty. We also mentor research and MBA students.

Environment

We are proud to have signed the Market Research Society (MRS) Climate Pledge. We are committed to our Carbon Reduction Plan, with our Dashboard used to monitor our progress.

“I have worked with Jennifer and Clare at Harlow Consulting, on several occasions, directly and indirectly, when collaborating on research projects for government and others. The level of expertise, professionalism, and industry reach has been outstanding, and I am personally always astonished at the level of insight that the team at Harlow bring to the table. I consider Harlow Consulting to be my first point of contact whenever I am undertaking research for my own business, and for the clients that I represent. One example of many, would be The Offsite Homes Alliance for which Harlow brought invaluable insight and opportunity to us, to develop as the largest collaboration in offsite manufacturing management in the UK, between a significant number of social housing providers.”
