Social Value

Social value is very important to everyone at Harlow. To that end we support a wide range of charities helping with food poverty, the environment, our local community, arts & culture and animal welfare.  

Our head office is in Harrogate and members of our team are based all over the UK. We’re lucky to live in a wide range of beautiful places – both urban and rural. Sustainability and a commitment to the environment and our heritage are hugely important to the whole team. We’ve invested in a local woodland conservation project, Longlands Common, and regularly volunteer to support conservation projects and charities such as the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. We became an official volunteer affiliate to English Heritage in 2024.  

We are a corporate partner of the World Land Trust and are particularly proud of our donation to the World Land Trust which enabled planting of 670 native trees to help restore tropical forests and purchase of 33.5 acres of land to safeguard threatened habitats and their wildlife. 

Harlow Consulting is a proud signatory to the Market Research Society (MRS) Climate Pledge. As part of this pledge, we support and encourage conversations by our employees, partners and clients about environment concerns and viewpoints. We work with Positive Planet to measure and offset our carbon emissions. Every year they create our carbon reduction plan and a carbon reduction dashboard. We closely monitor not only our own emissions but also those of our supply chain, when calculating our carbon footprint. We are a member of the SME Climate Hub, and our team receive accredited training in carbon literacy.  

Harlow is an accredited Living Wage employer and we are also a Mindful Employer, a Disability Confident Employer and signatory to the Mental Health at Work Commitment. We give back to the local community through sponsorship e.g., of a local primary school’s summer fair, and via regular donations to local food banks. We offer work experience to local students and have given careers talks to the local schools. Harlow Consulting was highly commended in the Harrogate Business Awards 2023 for the Employee Health and Wellbeing Award. 

Our forward strategy as a business is to increase our pool of associates, specifically targeting individual specialists, sole-traders and micro businesses in the local area. We have deliberately sourced many of our existing suppliers specifically to support economic growth in the local area.
